When To Say No To Having A Roommate

I,like most people have experienced my fair share of roommates. And I've had a few amazing ones, the kind that turn into lifelong Best-friends.
Then again, I've had awful roommates, too. I had one that dumped trash on my bed when I came home too late for her liking (long story), and another who decided to stop payment on her rent check but still wanted to live there (WTF?). I was so ready to put that part of my life behind me last year when I finally got my own place. And yes, it's everything I ever hoped it could be: I walk around naked, leave the dishes unwashed sometimes, and have full control over the DVD. In short? It's bliss and I have no plans to share a house with anyone again until I'm in a serious relationship.

But, my friend and former roommate is buying a house and just asked me to move in with her. On the surface, it sounds great: Fewer expenses, a great location, and a built-in person to talk to. The thing is...I'm really not interested in changing my lifestyle in order to save a few bucks every month. My friend doesn't get it: She's totally the type that wants 50 people around her at all times and never gets tired of socializing. She's texted me at least a dozen times this week to ask me to room with her. Don't get me wrong, I love going out and socializing, but I equally love having my alone time, too. Maybe I'm turning into that girl, but I just don't want to change.
